Job Description
As a Pension Administrator and Consultant, you will be responsible for working an assigned client case load and completing their annual administration.
The annual administration involves the calculation of employer contributions, performance of all relevant annual testing (ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 410(b), 401(a)(4), etc.), reconciliation of trust accounts, compilation of annual Plan valuations, and concludes with the filing of Form 5500.
Your coworkers will handle regular data requests, all distributions and billing, and assist you with data entry, but strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task will be needed to follow up with clients, accountants, and advisors and handle any outstanding issues regarding your case load.
The right candidate will be comfortable working with Defined Contribution plans that also have a Defined Benefit plan component. Actuarial knowledge itself is not necessary but the Plan Administrator will need to understand the plan’s functionality.
Other job requirements include vesting updates for certain 401(k) vendor platforms, preparation of Plan amendments, drafting proposals for prospective clients, and other as-needed functions.
Whether working at the office or from home, you will have email and office phone access and will need to provide customer service within regular office hours.
Candidate Requirements
5-7 years of experience in Retirement plan administration with a TPA firm is preferrable, professional experience with Microsoft Excel is needed, and familiarity with Datair Pension Software is a big plus.
Candidates who are also interested in sales will have the opportunity to get involved and LAR Pensions is open to negotiating an appropriate compensation structure. To be clear, the position being offered here is for annual administration / consulting and prospecting is not a requirement.
